I took a break from quilting to work in my garden. This year I started late because of my trip, so I went into the garden right away after I returned. I put 5 tomatoes and 5 sweet basil in last week to start and will get more tomatoes this week. The sun is getting hot and it's perfect for them.
I also started something new; I started a garden blog. It's called 'New Urban Garden'. In that blog I'll share all the things I do in my garden and I'd love for all my quilting friends to visit that site.
Have a blessed week!

EPP hexagon on T-shirt
Hand sewn project in Bangkok, Thailand continue
This week, I decided to use the hexagon shapes that I've been making on a T-shirt for my niece. I also made a few leaves with the same EPP technique. I put the smaller leaves on top of the bigger ones and using dark and light contrast fabric for interest. I hand sew the flower and the leaves on a ready made T-shirt. It's a quick and pretty easy gift before I return home to the US.
Here are some pictures:
My trip here is coming to an end. I'm returning to California next week. I'll miss Thailand, all the shopping excursions with my sister and of course, the food. My mother is stable and in pretty good health. She is one strong 92-year old lady. I'm so blessed to have such a strong and courageous mother. Because of her, I was able to go to school and earned a degree from college. I hope I can take good care of my children the way my mother took care of us. I'm grateful to be able to spend some time with her and my siblings.
My next posting will be from Los Angeles, California. Until then have a blessed week.

One of Thai's national dish - Pad Thai - in Bangkok
Since I came here, I have been enjoying Thai food. I will always consider Chinese food is my native food, but I also love Thai food. When I was young, we would eat Chinese food at home all the time. My parents were from Hai Nan Island, south of China, so my mother's Hai Nan style Chinese food is the best, of course. The only time we get to eat Thai food was when we were outside the house. When my older siblings became older and took over the cooking from mother, they started to make more Thai food for dinner. Now we eat Thai food almost all the time.
This trip we were in search of great Pad Thai. My sister took me to several places and I still wasn't impressed until today. I found, in my humble opinion, the best Pad Thai. It's very flavorful and has an interesting addition to it; crispy protein chips on top. I like Pad Thai with fresh shrimp, but you can have it with pork, chicken or other sea food.
My dear friends, if you have Thai restaurant near you, go try a Pad Thai. It may become your new favorite dish. Cheers!

Doesn't it look yummy? |
It's the name of the place. Sorry, my American friends, it's in Thai. |
The man who made the tastiest Pad Thai |
